SMARTFIRE is an advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) fire simulation environment developed by the Fire Safety Engineering Group (FSEG) at the University of Greenwich. Unlike other CFD software used to simulate fire, SMARTFIRE has been specifically designed and developed as a Fire Simulation Tool to be used by Fire Engineers and is based on more than 20 years of CFD fire modelling and research experience of FSEG.
SMARTFIRE provides the fire engineer with an advanced desk-top fire-laboratory enabling rapid turnaround of even sophisticated fire simulation analyses. SMARTFIRE has many unique features designed to make scenario specification, simulation computation and post processing analysis straightforward and efficient. This allows the fire engineer to concentrate on the design and scenario issues rather than wrestling with CFD and software usage issues. The SMARTFIRE software suite runs on ordinary PCs but has also been developed to use clusters of PC workstations to accelerate the computations. SMARTFIRE is also the ideal tool-set to compute the fire hazard environment for population exposure effects in EXODUS Evacuation modelling of the built environment.
