Description

Navigating the Evolving Stevedoring Landscape in the Maritime Sector: Strategic Transition from Onshore to Offshore Operations

The maritime industry is undergoing profound transformation, driven by rapid technological advancements, increasing vessel sizes, changing global trade patterns, digitalisation, environmental sustainability requirements, and the growing demand for efficiency, cargo handling services. The developments redefine the role of stevedoring companies, requiring them to move beyond the traditional onshore cargo handling to a more integrated, technology-driven, and offshore operational models.
Globally, ports are expanding beyond conventional quayside operations to include offshore terminals, floating logistics platforms, deep-water transshipment hubs, and ship-to-ship cargo transfer systems. The changes are aimed at improving supply chain efficiency and enhancing the competitiveness of maritime transport. Consequently, stevedoring companies are expected to develop new operational capabilities, invest in modern equipment and digital technologies, and adopt international best practices in safety, environmental management, and operational excellence. The four days course is to provide participants with comprehensive understanding of evolving stevedoring landscape and the strategic implications of transitioning from onshore to offshore operations. Participants at the course will gain insights into global best practices, innovative operational models, regulatory frameworks, digital transformation, risk management, occupational safety and health and the leadership approaches for successful management.

It will be delivered by Industry Experts and Academic Resource Persons at the Greenwich Business School's Centre of Research on Employment and Work (CREW), University of Greenwich, London. SE10 9LS.
