If you are a graduate from the University of Greenwich you can request a replacement award certificate (for Studies 1992 onward only) if your original certificate has been lost or damaged.
Detailed Description
Please read the important information below before applying for a replacement certificate:
The formal award certificate will have your name, programme of study, classification (if applicable) and award date. The certificate does not include modules/marks information. If this information is required then please see the Academic Transcripts item in the store. If you have your original certificate and just require copies then please see Certified Copies item in the store.
Your certificate is a legal document, therefore only one is allowed to be in circulation at any one time. Applicants must provide the university with either the damaged original certificate or a completed declaration setting out fully the circumstances in which the certificate was lost or damaged and an understanding that should a replacement be issued, it will be returned if the original is subsequently found. If a certificate is subsequently found and returned the university will unfortunately not be able to refund the payment required for the work undertaken in issuing a replacement certificate.
Graduates of Thames Polytechnic (pre-1992)
Graduates of Thames Polytechnic can request a replacement certificate via Open University Validation Services.
Graduates of Woolwich Polytechnic (pre-1992)
Graduates of Woolwich Polytechnic can request a replacement certificate via the University of London.
The replacement certificate will have the exact award information as your original and will be produced on current certificate paper. This will mean that any name changes after the award was made will not be reflected in the new certificate. However, if a name change is needed on a certificate due to an individual identifying as transgender or has undergone gender reassignment then this will be processed. Please visit: https://www.gre.ac.uk/student-services/your-official-documents/certificates-and-transcripts#if_you_require_a_replacement_or_certified_copy_of_your_certificate for more detail.
How to request a replacement award certificate – two stage process
Firstly, please order your replacement certificate (adding an additional DHL courier if you wish it delivered more speedily than the standard 2nd class post) by using this online system. You will receive an online payment reference number in your order confirmation email
Secondly, once you have made your online application, within 10 working days of your online request, please email separately your proof of identity ( a scanned copy of your passport or driving license) to [email protected]. If your name has changed, since you completed the programme, we will also require proof of your original name (e.g. birth or marriage certificate). If returning a damaged certificate, please return by post to The Certificate and Transcripts Service, B111 Bronte Building, Avery Hill Campus, Avery Hill Road, Eltham SE9 2UG).
Once a replacement certificate request has been received, we will look to process the replacement within 2 to 4 weeks. This can take longer between June and November, as the majority of original certificates are produced in that period. The replacement certificate will then be posted to you by standard 2nd class post. Once produced, if you wish to receive replacement certificate more speedily we recommend you also add a payment for DHL courier. To purchase DHL services for your certificate, please click here and add this to your basket alongside the request for the letter.
Please note: Documents will not be prepared or issued if you have an outstanding debt with the university. We will contact you if there is a problem processing your request and any payment will be refunded.
To proceed with your purchase, please select replacement certificate and click on ‘add to basket’. For queries, please email Certificates and Transcript Service at [email protected]
